Story
Hi there!
I will be travelling to the UK at the end of July to take part in Ride London and to raise funds for Youth Focus. The event is a 100 mile cycle (160k's to the Aussies) following the roads used in the Olympics in 2012. The route travels out from the Olympic Park in Stratford, through Richmond, out to Surrey to take on Leith Hill and Boxhill before heading back into London through Kingston & Wimbledon before finishing on The Mall. It will be a big physical and mental challenge with plenty of training required, but raising funds for a great cause will make it a breeze.
?Youth Focus are a for-purpose organisation working to prevent youth suicide through helping young people aged 12-25 overcome issues associated with depression, anxiety, self-harm and suicidal thoughts. They do this through providing face-to-face inidividual and family counselling and other mental health services, but require funding to continue to continue these vital services.
I chose Youth Focus due to my personal experience of losing my brother to cancer when I was 19 and then losing my dad under a year later to a heart attack. I was very lucky to have a large, close and supportive family, but not a lot of young people will have that support. I did suffer clinical depression later in life, so maybe I would have benefited from some professional support at that time and this is what Youth Focus can give and it is indeed vital for young people who need that help.
?1 in 4 men deaths in men aged 15-24 is due to suicide.
Suicide is preventable; most people who take their own lives do not wish to do so; most people who have suicidal ideation will respond to appropriate care and support.
I am doing this to help young people and give them support and the chance for a good start in life and a bright future, so any donation you can give will be greatly appreciated and used for this great cause.
Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to my charity of choice.
Thanks so much for your support!

What do we do?
