SMBC CSR Cycling Team
SMBC CSR Cycling Team
Story
The SMBC CSR Cycling Team are planning to ride in the Bobbin Head Cycle Classic on Sunday 20 March.
The cycling team is being formed with the support of the SMBC CSR committee and intended to raise donations for a charity called Opportunity International, which is devoted to alleviating poverty in developing countries through provision of micro-finance loans to people considering starting small/ local business initiatives to support them-selves and their families. The microfinance charity model is actually very effective in achieving significant social outcomes for the funding they recieve and this model would be of interest to many SMBC staff as professioals in the finance sector. You can find out more about Opportunity International here:

The SMBC CSR Cycling Team will participate in the Bobbin Head Cycle Classic. This ride has a range of options for different levels of rider capability (27-104km) and will be held on Sunday 20 March starting in Turrumurra. Being an organised ride, it will be supported with standard competition arrangements and facilities if anyone gets into difficulty.

Note that whilst the Bobbin Head classic participation fees will go towards Rotary and their chosen charities, the SMBC CSR committee fund-raising will be completed through this go-fundraise me page for our 'Team SMBC', with funds raised to go directly to Opportunity International.
SMBC management have generously provided a budget of up to $5,000 for matching donations to support Opportunity International. This means that for every $1 your donate, opportunity international will receive $2! Hence we are seeking all SMBC employees support in reaching our $5000 donation target.
Donations from family and friends outside of SMBC are of course much appreciated also, however these donations will not attact matching funds.
On behalf of the SMBC CSR committee, thankyou so much for your support!
