Story
Cancer Council Tasmania is a not-for-profit organisation that works to minimise the incidence and impact of cancer on all Tasmanians through advocacy, raising awareness of cancer prevention and offering support by the disease. The success of fundraising events relies on public and corporate support and each year workplace, individuals, schools and communities across Tasmania support Cancer Council’s fight against cancer.
I will be embarking on a ride over 8 days and some 850 + kilometres. Starting off from Smithton on the 17th of October and arriving in Hobart on the 20th then returning back to Smithton on the 24th.
On the morning of my departure ill be holding a breakfast at the Smithton community centre.
In Hobart former AFL player/coach David Parkin will be guest speaker, there will be an auction to follow with light food available.
Back in Smithton on the 24th we will be holding a dinner at the Community centre, presentations to
follow with live music.
It wasn't until cancer struck my family that I realized what sufferers and family's go through. The support that the Cancer Council provide is overwhelming . By doing this ride I feel as though ill be doing my bit for what the Cancer Council have done for my family.
I know there is a lot of charity's out there but the one thing about the Cancer Council of Tasmania is the money raised stays in Tasmania.
